A FIRST SEED...
From 2014-16, Neighborhood Associates partnered with former USDA higher-up, Gus Schumacker, the DC Promise Neighborhood Initiative, FoodWorks, and resident coordinators to support the development of community gardens, farmers markets, fitness activities, and healthy cooking and wellness classes at several of our allied communities in Northeast Washington, DC. The farmers markets also doubled the value of SNAP and WIC benefits for fresh fruit and vegetable purchases.
