GROWING COMMUNITIES

A TIMELINE OF OUR WORK
From the World Bank to a Community Garden. A six year journey and we're making progress everyday.

A FIRST SEED...

2014 -2016

From 2014-16, Neighborhood Associates partnered with former USDA higher-up, Gus Schumacher, the DC Promise Neighborhood Initiative, FoodWorks, and resident coordinators to support the development of community gardens,  farmers markets, fitness activities, and healthy cooking and wellness classes at several of our allied communities in Northeast Washington, DC. The farmers markets also doubled the value of SNAP and WIC benefits for fresh fruit and vegetable purchases.
