A few weeks ago, members of the Paradise at Parkside Garden Club paid a visit to Cultivate the City to meet its founder, Niraj Ray, and discovered his amazing urban farm, located at 910 Bladensburg Road in Northeast Washington, DC, just across the Anacostia River from Paradise.

Members got to check out and taste diverse and exotic plant varieties like pineberries, banana trees, Thai chilis, and Egyptian walking onions -- all thriving in the DC climate.

Niraj provided tips on how to increase the yield of Paradise’s hydroponic towers in a fun and friendly environment. Our gardeners got to network with other gardeners and share experiences with managing Community Supported Agriculture programs (CSAs).

Thank you to Niraj Ray and the volunteers of Cultivate the City for inspiring us and

showing our gardeners the tremendous potential of urban hydroponic gardening!
