BRADENTON VILLAGE
BRADENTON, FL
ABOUT BRADENTON VILLAGE...
Bradenton Village now stands where the Rogers Garden Apartments housing complex once was home in the Singletary neighborhood of Bradenton, Florida. After several attempts to secure public funding to revitalize the property, the Bradenton Housing Authority secured a $21 million HOPE VI grant in 1999 with the help of the development firm that specializes in affordable, resident-driven housing communities, Telesis Corporation.
From 2003 to 2010 the Robert Gardens Apartments was transformed into Bradenton Village, a vibrant mixed-income community with a total of 388 apartments for rent and 100 for homeownership. The $87 million renovation was designed in the style of Caribbean, Mediterranean, and North Carolina homes. The new neighborhood layout was planned around a village green and community center, which encouraged the re-establishment of the close neighborly interactions it had before. Its porches and balconies enable residents to talk across, watch over, and enjoy the view of the beautified streets.
