ABOUT CITY VIEW PARK...
City View Park is located in the historic Russell neighborhood, once one of the country’s capitals of jazz and blues and the stomping grounds of Muhammad Ali. Located near Louisville’s vibrant downtown and central business district but cut off by major road infrastructure, City View Park residents have for years advocated for reinvestment in Russell.
City View Park’s revitalization story begins with strong resident advocacy. This tenacious group of resident leaders contacted the development firm, Telesis, to transform the community, and improve safety. Residents have now allied with local partner organizations, including an on-site food distribution program called Dare to Care, an on-site clinic called Park DuValle Clinic, and a nearby YMCA. In 2015, the wider Russell neighborhood was awarded a $425,000 Choice Neighborhoods Planning Grant to embark upon a comprehensive redevelopment plan.
